Healthy Smoothie Bowls that Nourish Your Body and Soul
by: Dominica Reid
Ah, it’s that time of the year again. Spring! The warm weather, sunny days at the park, exploring farmer markets season (at least that’s what my spring looks like), and with this time of the year, fresh seasonal fruits are back in season. There’s no better time for smoothie bowls. There truly is an art to making smoothie bowls and they are so easy and delicious to make. I have one go-to healthy smoothie bowl recipe that I make every time. It includes a ton of wholesome and nutritious ingredients and I can whip up in seconds. Here’s my favorite smoothie bowl recipe that I have perfected over the years.
Smoothie Ingredients needed for the Smoothie Bowl:
Organic frozen mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries)
2 Bananas
½ of an avocado
Organic vanilla or plain yogurt (I prefer organic kefir yogurt)
½ Cup of organic milk (I use whole milk but you can use almond or soy milk if you’d like)
Smoothie Bowl Ingredients and fresh fruits needed for the toppings:
Organic fresh kiwi, bananas, raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries
Granola (I use Bear Naked Triple Berrie Fit)
(If you want to add protein powder you can. I enjoy using Vital Proteins Veggie Blend).
Steps:
Blend all of the smoothie ingredients in the blender and pour into a bowl.
Chop all of the fresh fruits and place them in a bowl.
Top it off with some granola
Enjoy!
Other Smoothie Bowl Topping Ideas
While I shared some of my most favorite toppings for this particular recipe. There are so many other healthy and nutritious smoothie bowl toppings that I like to add and here’s my list.
Crushed nuts (peanuts, almonds, cashews) While I love eating smoothie bowls with granola for that extra crunch, crushed nuts are just as good.
Nut butter (peanut butter or almond butter). Smoothie bowls with peanut butter give you that extra protein boost that your body needs.
Coconut flakes
Mangos
Watermelon or honeydew
Pineapples
Dates
