3 Wholesome and Healthy Breakfast Recipes

It’s the weekend!!! And even though it’s almost over I’m happy all the same. My favorite part of the weekend is going out to brunch or breakfast or making my own healthy breakfast creations at home. A few weeks ago I wrote a blog post on how to start your healthy eating journey and I promised to share some of my healthy recipes that helped me when I first started my own journey to healthy eating, two years ago. I meant to post an article on this much sooner but I had so many tasty recipes to share that it ended up being too long for one blog post. So I decided to break it down by the time of day. So, today I’m writing about my go-to easy and healthy breakfast recipes for healthy living. They’ll be sure to make your mornings worth waking up early for.

1.) Yogurt, Chia Seeds, and Fruit

If you’re looking for a healthy breakfast recipe that promotes gut and stomach health, this is the one.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of fresh berries

1 cup of kefir yogurt

1/2 cup chia seeds

honey (optional)

This one is so easy and one of my absolute go-to's. I’ll add a cup of my favorite kefir yogurt in a bowl, then add some fresh berries, and half a cup of chia seeds. Sometimes I’ll even drizzle some honey on it. Yum!

2.) Flaxseed Protein Pancakes

If you’re looking for a healthy protein-packed breakfast recipe, you can’t go wrong with this flaxseed protein pancake recipe.

Ingredients:

1 Banana (optional)

1/2 cup of berries (optional)

1/2 cup of ground flaxseeds

Your favorite pancake mix

Did I ever mention how much I love pancakes? They aren’t necessarily bad for you, but they aren’t the healthiest either. So what do I do? I add some flaxseed to the mix. Why flaxseed you ask? Flaxseed is known for it's amazing health benefits. The seeds are high in fiber, protein, and B vitamins. They also are high in Omega 3 fatty acids which is important for every diet. I personally buy the flaxseeds whole and grind them myself, this way they stay fresh longer.

Directions: Use your favorite pancake mix, and add half a cup of ground flaxseed. Cook the pancakes in a pan like you usual do. I also love adding fresh fruit to my pancakes but this isn’t necessary.

4.) Healthy Breakfast Burrito

This healthy breakfast burrito recipe is the bomb, and it’s super simple to make. You only need a few simple ingredients to make it and it takes no time to make.

Ingredients:

1 egg

2 mini sweet bell peppers

1/4 onion

1/2 celery stick

2 baby Bella mushrooms

Chop up the onions, celery, mushrooms, and bell peppers. Then pour a tbsp of olive oil into pan and warm it, adding the veggies into the pan once the oil is warm. Once veggies are almost all the way cooked start adding the egg and scramble. Add salt and pepper to taste. Then top all of the ingredients into a wrap. Add your favorite hot sauce and voila you got yourself a healthy breakfast burrito choc full of tasty veggies!

My Final Thoughts

Over the years I've expanded my food knowledge and with this my breakfast options have gotten a lot more diverse. However, these were some great breakfast choices when I first started my healthy eating journey, since they made it easy for me to keep eating right. They also helped me incorporate more fruits and veggies into my diet. If you're looking for more ways to eat more veggies and fruits here is my blog post on smoothie bowls and one on smoothies. Check them out!
