5 Ways to Boost Your Energy Without Caffeine

If you’re anything like me then having your morning coffee is vital to start your day. Honestly, I can’t get anything done until I drink my first cup of coffee. In the past, I only had to drink one cup but once I became a mom, I had to up it to two. I don’t like being dependent on anything so I knew I needed to make a change. I started looking for natural ways to boost my energy without caffeine.

Drink More Water

I learned that drinking more water would help boost my energy. Noticing that I wasn’t drinking enough I started to make a conscious decision to drink more. I installed a water drinking app on my phone and got a water bottle that I could take wherever I go, and the rest is history. I’m a visual person so once I started to keep track of my water intake it helped me stay on top of staying hydrated. I wrote a blog post a while back on how I’ve started drinking more water.

Eat More Nutritious Food

In the past, I always felt that eating healthier included more work, so I never even tried. I used to see my mom cook healthy meals for our family every day, and I just didn’t see myself having the time or dedication to do the same for myself.  This changed once I started to feel extreme fatigue and stomach problems, at that point I knew my diet needed to change. So, I worked on finding ways to eat healthily but without the work. Fresh and frozen vegetables and fruit became my go-to’s. As soon as I incorporated more vegetables and fruit into my diet, I immediately noticed a boost in my energy levels. I kept up with this diet but as soon as I became a mom, I looked for quick meals to make, that unfortunately weren’t so healthy and I went right back to my old exhausted self, but this time with a baby. This was definitely not sustainable.

I knew that I needed to get back on track and I’ve found some awesome simple veggie and fruit-packed recipes that have kept me, and my family energized throughout the day. I’ll be sharing those recipes on the blog soon, but in the meantime check out this article. I’ll share some foods that will boost your energy here:

Bananas, fatty fish, sweet potatoes, eggs, water (like I mentioned above), oatmeal, avocados, all beans, nuts, and leafy greens

Take Vitamins and Supplements

I knew that eating healthy was important, but I also understood that on some days I wouldn’t be able to get all of the vitamins I needed from the food I was eating, so I make sure to take a daily vitamin supplement. I also started adding collagen powder to my smoothies and coffee in the morning. A simple multivitamin can help you add the necessary vitamins you need if you’re not getting enough in your diet. Don’t depend on them to give you all of the nutrients you need though, you should always try to eat vitamin-rich foods first and only take vitamins to supplement what you’re not eating. 

So, you’re probably wondering what vitamins actually boost your energy? Vitamin B12 can help increase your energy levels. B12 turns the food you eat into energy that your cells can use.  In addition to B12, I also add collagen to my coffee and I also take hair, skin, and nail supplements that are choc-full of vitamins as well.

Not Overworking Myself

In the past I would work until I couldn’t anymore, now I know better. I understand that I can only do good work if I am well-rested. I refuse to overwork myself. This was hard at first, but once I started resting when I needed to, I immediately noticed a better quality in my work. Remember it’s okay to take a break. When your body is telling you that you’re tired, listen and take some time to rest. I know that in our work-obsessed culture resting may feel like laziness, but it’s far from the truth. Our bodies and minds need downtime to refresh, so give yourself what you need I promise you that once you get back to work after some downtime, you’ll feel 100% more productive.

Exercise to Boost Energy

It might seem counterproductive to exercise when all you want to do is sleep, but it really does boost your energy levels. You don’t have to do a heavy exercise but going on a short run or walk around your neighborhood can instantly boost your mood. It can also help you blow off steam when you’re feeling fatigued from a stressful day. I also like doing simple yoga stretches when
